I have a white metal bistro set (1 table, 2 chairs). I like to paint black. I have black matte outdoor
paint that says it can be painted right on the oxide. The table is not rusty. My question? Do I have to do something for the whole preparation before painting?
Sand lightly to give it some "teeth" for the paint to stick. I would give it a coat or 5 of satin or gloss on top, only to protect paint and help it last longer. Remember that paint and varnish or below what the rust away. Good Luck!
