History:

1. Cream together shortening and brown sugar until well blended, light and fluffy.

3. Sift flour, baking soda, cloves, cinnamon and ginger.
4. Add dry ingredients to the mix wet and mix well.
5. Cool in the refrigerator a couple of hours or overnight.
6. After cooling, shaped dumplings on the walnut-sized balls and instead of a greased baking tray, leaving space for expansion. Flatten balls with a fork.
7. Bake in 350 degree oven 12 to 15 min. Do not let too much coffee.
Grandma liked these cookies thin and crispy. Experiment and adapt to suit taste, size and desired consistency. Grandma is about 2 1 / 2 "in the in diameter.
